Genus of Placozoa

Trichoplax is a genus placed in the phylum Placozoa. The species Trichoplax adhaerens is one of four Placozoa species, alongside Hoilungia hongkongensis, Polyplacotoma mediterranea and Cladtertia collaboinventa. Placozoa is a basal group of multicellular animals, possible relatives of Cnidaria.
