Tram
Street-running rail transit
A tram, also known as a tramcar, streetcar or trolley is a form of urban rail transit in which vehicles, whether individual railcars or multiple-unit trains, run on tramway tracks laid on or parallel to public streets, or operate in segregated right-of-ways. Trams are a type of light rail and are generally the smallest-scale form of such rail transit; they operate in mixed traffic with other motor vehicles, provide lower local-scale capacity, and operate with limited signal-priority. However, their larger vehicle size and steel wheels allow for greater capacity and improved energy efficiency in comparison to diesel or electric buses.
