Sulfite

Sulfites or sulphites are compounds that contain the sulfite ion (systematic name: sulfate(IV) ion), SO32−. The sulfite ion is the conjugate base of bisulfite. Although its acid (sulfurous acid) is elusive, its salts are widely used.
