Study of molecular structures in biology

Structural biology

Structural biology is concerned with the structural analysis of biological material at every level of organization. During the 19th and early 20th centuries, structural studies were largely limited to structures visible to the naked eye or through magnifying glasses and light microscopes. In the 20th century, a variety of experimental techniques were developed to examine the 3D structures of biological molecules.
