Petropavl
City in North Kazakhstan Region, Kazakhstan
Petropavl (Kazakh: Петропавл ; Russian: Петропавловск, romanized: Petropavlovsk) is a city on the Ishim River in northern Kazakhstan close to the border with Russia. It is the capital of the North Kazakhstan Region and has a population of 218,956 (as of 2020). The city is also known in Kazakh as Kyzylzhar (Kazakh: Қызылжар, romanized: Qyzyljar, lit. 'Red cliff').
