Milk substitute
Alternative substance that resembles milk
A milk substitute is a substance that resembles milk and can be used in the same ways as milk. The most common substitutes for adults are plant-based milks, which are made from ingredients such as soybeans, almonds, oats, rice, coconut and other plants. These products may be consumed as beverages or used in cooking, baking and coffee, and many commercial varieties are fortified with nutrients such as calcium, vitamin D and vitamin B12.
