Ingria
Historical region in northwestern Russia
Ingria is a historical region in northwestern European Russia, encompassing the area around the Neva River, the southeastern shore of the Gulf of Finland, and the southwestern shore of Lake Ladoga. Its historical boundaries extended to the Narva River in the west and the Sestra River in the north, while its southern boundary was less clearly defined. The Votians and Izhorians, both Baltic Finnic peoples, are among the indigenous peoples of Ingria.
