The illegal drug trade is the global black market dedicated to the cultivation, manufacture, distribution, and sale of prohibited drugs. The terms drug trafficking and narcotrafficking are also commonly used to describe the trade of the illicit substances. A majority of jurisdictions prohibit trade, except under license, of many types of drugs through the use of drug prohibition laws.
