East Jerusalem

East Jerusalem (Arabic: القدس الشرقية, romanized: al-Quds ash-Sharqiya; Hebrew: מִזְרַח יְרוּשָׁלַיִם, romanized: Mizraḥ Yerushalayim) is the portion of Jerusalem east of the Green Line. It was established formally by the armistice agreements at the end of the 1948 Palestine war. It is considered to be the capital and part of the Palestinian territories according to international law by the United Nations and other intergovernmental organizations, and under illegal occupation by Israel.
