Dynasty
Sequence of rulers considered members of the same family
A dynasty is a sequence of rulers from the same family, usually in the context of a monarchical system, but sometimes also appearing in republics. A "house" is an imperial, royal or noble family, not always ruling. Historians periodize the histories of many states and civilizations, such as the Roman Empire (27 BCE – 1453 CE), Imperial Iran (678 BCE – 1979 CE), Ancient Egypt (3100–30 BCE), and Ancient and Imperial China (2070 BCE – 1912 CE), using a framework of successive dynasties.
