Detritus

In biology, detritus ( or) is organic matter made up of the decomposing remains of organisms and plant material, and also of feces. Detritus usually hosts communities of microorganisms that colonize and decompose (remineralise) it. Such microorganisms may be decomposers, detritivores, or coprophages.
