Field of history

Cultural history records and interprets events in human history with respect to the contemporaneous social, cultural and political milieu, arts, and manners. Jacob Burckhardt (1818–1897) helped found cultural history as a discipline. Cultural history studies and interprets the record of human societies by identifying the distinctive ways of living developed by the group under consideration.
