Beer–Lambert law
Scientific law describing absorption of light
The Beer–Lambert law (also known as Beer's law) is used to determine the concentration of substances in a solution. It describes how the amount of light that a solution absorbs is directly proportional to the solution's concentration. This relationship is commonly expressed as A = ε c l {\displaystyle A=\varepsilon cl} where A is the absorbance ε is the absorption coefficient c is the concentration of the absorbing substance l is the path length It is named after August Beer and Johann Heinrich Lambert.
