City in Egypt

Asyut (Asyūṭ pronounced [ʔɑsˈjuːtˤ]) is a city in Egypt. Located in Upper Egypt, it is the capital of the modern Asyut Governorate in Egypt. It was built close to the ancient city of the same name, which is situated nearby.
