Arawak
Umbrella for various Indigenous peoples of the Americas
Arawak is an exonym used for various groups of Indigenous peoples in northern South America and the Caribbean. The term "Arawak" has been applied at different times to several Indigenous groups, including the Lokono of South America and the Taíno ("Island Arawaks"), who lived in the Greater Antilles and northern Lesser Antilles. These groups spoke related Arawakan languages, part of one of the most widespread Indigenous language families in the Americas.
