Aeneas

Trojan hero in Greco-Roman mythology

Aeneas

Aeneas ( in-EE-əs; Classical Latin: [ae̯ˈneːaːs]; from Ancient Greek: Αἰνείας, romanized: Aineías) was a Trojan hero in Greco-Roman mythology, the son of the Trojan prince Anchises and the Greek goddess Aphrodite (equivalent to the Roman Venus). His father was a first cousin of King Priam of Troy (both being great-grandsons of Tros, founder of Troy), making Aeneas a second cousin to Priam's children (such as Hector and Paris). He is a figure in Greek mythology, appearing in Homer's Iliad.
